(04) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Parametric modeling by freehand drawing.

The first step of this postdoc will be to sudy both the design and the parametric modeling literature to better understand how designers use parametric tools, and how this relates to freehand drawing. In particular, we are interested in identifying the most popular workflows for achieving common modeling tasks [1], and how designers sketch to plan these workflows [2].

(06) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Non-linear solid dynamics by a Lattice Boltzmann Method.

The Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is an efficient numerical technique used mainly in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). This method is appreciated for its simplicity, computational efficiency and parallel scalability. Despite all its advantages, very few applications of this method to solid mechanics was present [1]. This limitation was mainly due to strong theoretical locks.

However, recent works extended this method to solid mechanics [2]. These works open many perspectives, notably in SHM.

(07) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Campagne Post-doctorant 2021 – CRI Lille] New Communication paradigms based on Emerging Technologies.

The main objective we wish to tackle on this topic is a completely different perspective of the environment in the context of a data communication system [1]. Indeed, the environment has been always considered a passive and uncontrollable component altering the propagation of electromagnetic (EM) waves. Contrariwise, by considering the environment as part of the communication system, it can be controlled by controlling and manipulating the waves impinging on obstacle objects, etc

(08) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Performance Analysis and Optimization of Vehicular Communications.

The goals of this postdoctoral position are twofold: First, we analyse the performance of vehicular communications under different scenarios, environments, and type of transmissions. Then, we aim to improve these performance by accurately setting the system parameters, implementing new multiple access techniques, or by enhancing the communications environment.

(09) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Campagne Postdoctorant 2021 – CRI Lille] Statistical inference on graphs.

A postdoc position is available in the MODAL team under the broad theme of “Statistical inference on graphs’’. Such problems are motivated by applications where we encounter pairwise information for a collection of n items (with n typically large) and the goal is to recover a global latent structure that is consistent with the information.

(10) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Discretizations of dynamical transport models on unstructured meshes.

The aim of this project is to pursue the development of locally conservative methods such as mixed finite elements and finite volumes as in [4, 3] to solve a large class of dynamical transport problems on unstructured meshes. The main focuses will be i) an in-depth numerical and theoretical study of the stability of such schemes on unstructured meshes ii) the derivation of efficient optimization methods for their solution and iii) their numerical implementation within existing finite elements/volumes softwares.

Postdoctoral position summary/title: The role of rapport in human-conversational agent interaction: Modeling conversation to improve task performance in human-agent Interaction.

The objective of this project is to build embodied conversational agents (also known as ECAs, or virtual humans, or chatbots, or multimodal dialogue systems) that have the ability to engage their users in both social and task talk, where the social talk serves to improve task performance. In order to achieve this objective, we model human-human conversation, and integrate the models into ECAs, and then evaluate their performance

About National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (Inria)    (Official Website)

The National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (Inria)  is a French national research institution focusing on computer science and applied mathematics. It was created under the name Institut de recherche en informatique et en automatique (IRIA) in 1967 at Rocquencourt near Paris, part of Plan Calcul. Its first site was the historical premises of SHAPE (central command of NATO military forces), which is still used as Inria’s main headquarters. In 1980 IRIA became INRIA. Since 2011, it has been styled Inria.

Inria is a Public Scientific and Technical Research Establishment (EPST) under the double supervision of the French Ministry of National Education, Advanced Instruction and Research and the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry.
