(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in organisms detection from environmental DNA using CRISPR-Cas
Anthropogenic activities cause disruption to natural ecosystems, which can in turn impact the functioning of human societies. To ensure long-term societal well being, the monitoring of living organisms is becoming increasingly critical in a variety of domains from pathogens and pest detection to stock assessment and biodiversity protection. A critical challenge is to develop efficient data collection methods of potential biotic concerns that will allow informed management decisions. Engineered CRISPR-Cas reagents associated with a readout system are reported to allow the diagnosis of pathogens in medical samples. In the proposed project, we will generate a programmable approach for CRISPR-Cas to harness this technology and achieve organism detection in environmental DNA samples (eDNA), allowing fast and cost-effective tracking of multiple species’ occupancy overtime at multiple sites.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Position for Small Animal Fast Insert for MRI (SAFIR)
For our project we are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher with knowledge and experience in the field of PET in general and in PET image reconstruction in particular. You will participate in the characterization studies and drive the exploitation of the SAFIR-I and SAFIR-II detectors, working together with our two PhD students and the end-users of the detector from the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the University of Zurich. With a strong emphasis on image reconstruction and software development, towards improving the existing data acquisition software and automatizing sequences, you will play a key role in the SAFIR project, making it a success for us and our partners at the University of Zurich.

(06) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in magma-driven hydrothermal systems
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher (3-years position) to perform a study on how hydrothermal fluid flow, driven by magmatic heat, evolves in fracture zones. While this is a wide-spread phenomenon it is poorly understood. More specifically, the study aims at numerical simulation of how fracture zones and faults above or near to an intrusion influence fluid flow in calderas, rift zones, etc. This will be the first study of its kind, expected to significantly advance our understanding of natural hydrothermal systems, with applications to the occurrence and sustainability of geothermal resources as well as of the formation of vein-type hydrothermal ore deposits.

(10) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in platelet and coagulation biology
This project will focus on the interaction of coagulation factors with platelets. In Hemophilia A and B patients, FVIII or FIX is either missing or defective, respectively. As there is no cure to Hameophilia, the only option for a patient is to undergo a life-long treatment with the respective FVIII or FIX replacement therapies. In the fast-evolving treatment landscape of Haemophilia, patients can either choose from several different recombinant FVIII/FIX technologies, or the new non-factor therapies. To elucidate the underpinning mechanisms how different coagulation factors and their commercial mimetics interact with platelets and blood exposed cells, the project aims to use various in vitro cell model systems, state-of-the-art optical microscopy, and common biochemical assays. The outcome of the project could have direct impact on the treatment choices of haemophilia patients.
