12 Postdoctoral Position at Columbia University, USA

(01) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title:  The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the Columbia University Medical Center would like to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work in the lab of Dr. Andrew Teich. Our lab focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, but through multiple collaborations we also have projects that address other neurodegenerative diseases of aging. Candidates should have an MD or PhD degree and first author publications demonstrating project leadership. Candidates will be considered who have demonstrated outstanding research in molecular or cell biology outside of neuroscience as long as they have a clear rationale for why they are now interested in neurodegenerative disease. Our laboratory is a wet/dry lab that does both experimental work as well as computational analysis of genome and genomic expression data. The job candidate would thus have the opportunity to work in an integrated environment and further his or her exposure to bioinformatics. The PI is also the Director of the New York Brain Bank, and this serves as a resource both for our research as well as for the education of laboratory members in neurodegenerative disease biology. Please contact the PI (Dr. Andrew Teich; email: [email protected]) to inquire for more details.

Postdoctoral position summary/title: A Postdoctoral Research Scientist position is available immediately for a highly motivated candidate to work on a new NCI-funded project investigating the relationship between relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of heavy-ion radiotherapy and the response of pancreatic cancer, as well as the potential combination of heavy-ion radiotherapy and the induction of ferroptosis. The study uses both cellular models and KPC mouse models to address these central questions. Our laboratory is in the Center for Radiological Research (crr.columbia.edu) in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Upper Manhattan. This project is a collaboration with investigators in the Mouse Hospital (https://www.olivelab.org), a facility dedicated to pre-clinical studies for developing new pancreatic cancer treatments. Some studies will require irradiations using our heavy-ion facility at the Radiation Research Accelerator Facility (www.raraf.org/) located in Westchester County, upstate New York, and beamlines at Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with investigators in leading radiation biology and pancreatic cancer laboratories.a
