The aim of the postdoctoral position is to investigate the physics of highly correlated material systems with ultrafast nonlinear optical techniques and/or terahertz-time-domain spectroscopy. Possible topics could for example be multiferroics, spin-charge coupling phenomena, antiferromagnets, photoinduced phase transitions, domain- and domain-wall phenomena. (15) Postdoctoral Position
Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoctoral position in “Energy and Power Peak Control, enabled by Automatic Train Operation”
This project, funded by the Swiss national research fund, is to use pervasive sensing and controlling train trajectories as an enabler of more efficient power distribution at the level of networks, by reducing peaks. Currently, power peak computations are usually done together with (static) timetable planning; no stochastic conditions of delay or deviation from planned conditions is considered. On the vehicle side (traction equipment) special functions are implemented to help stabilize the electrical infrastructure regarding peak power. However, these functions have a negative influence on the tractive effort, and hence on the quality of the speed profile to be tracked by the ATO.

Postdoctoral position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Scientists in Superconducting Quantum Computing.
As a successful candidate, you will perform collaborative research towards the realization of quantum computing technologies in the context of a diverse set of internationally funded projects including, for example, the EU Quantum Technology Flagship (qt.eu) project OpenSuperQ (opensuperq.eu) and the FET-Open project Quromorphic (quromorphic.eu). Your main goal will be to push forward the development of quantum computing systems with 50 to 100 qubits and beyond. You will either realize noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) algorithms for applications in quantum chemistry, material science and optimization problems. Or you will pursue the development of fault-tolerant quantum computation by implementing error correction. Your project will be embedded in the Swiss Quantum Science and Technology Network QSIT (www.nccr-qsit.ethz.ch) with more than 30 partners across all of Switzerland.
